Michael Eh?

Odd mix of a protected past and an apocalyptic present. Dark and moody but some signs of comedy rapport between the main characters. I don't know if this will have the same complexity of Summer Time Render. It's a good opening episode with a cliff hanger right off the bat at the end. Might be in top 10 anime of the year unless another Bocchi the Rock! comes along.

lol, five kids to a classroom? God damn, I wish WE had that kind of student-teacher ratio growing up... :-D Art-style is a bit more unique than the usual anime faire. Nice use of light and shadow. Background colors are more realistic, with neutral tones, though the saturation is still good. The characters pop quite a bit in comparison. Show alternates between Pre and Post-Collapse Japan, with the students living in a secure enclosure, mostly tended by robots. They have never seen the outside world. The post-collapse protagonists are looking for two men, and a place referred to as "Heaven", the older female being hired to be the young man's bodyguard. Interesting and mysterious.

This show has some fun mystery elements to it. It really isnt explained what is going on with the two worlds, leaving you to wonder if maybe part of civilization survived. We dont get to know much of the characters, the show is more about the world, which is fairly well developed. all in all, the show does leave me wanting to know more about what is going on, so ill watch for a couple episodes more.

I liked the characters, but so far the story is not doing much for me. I would have appreciated some clearer hints about the big picture -- the setting seems just a bit too static otherwise.
