“Maou Army’s strongest magician” I’m called. Ike, a demon capable of capturing a fort alone. Clearing away enemies with immense magic, he is without a doubt a monster awed by friend and foe. However he has a secret he can’t tell other demons. “I, actually I’m human you know.” Using modern knowledge to keep his secret, he became treated as a great commander and the driving force of the Maou’s army.

Right from the opening I'm liking this. I wasn't expecting to be so comical given it's opening. it is nothing to compare with previous shows of this genre. This just made my watch list.

It's... I dunno... fine? I guess? Went pretty cheap on the animation budget for the first episode, in my opinion. A lot of static panning shots, or close-in shots with some minor head motion. As a character, the protagonist is compelling enough, but this feels like typical demon army meets slice-of-life.

A relatable demon commander modernising his army with "ancient" knowledge -- I think this might turn out to be exactly the kind of series I most like.
