Jigokuraku
Gabimaru the Hollow, a ninja of Iwagakure Village known for being cold and emotionless, was set up by his fellow ninja and is now on death row. Tired of killing and betrayal, he wants to die. However, no method of execution works on him, he refuses to die. Yamada 'Asaemon' Sagiri has a proposal for the ninja. She wants Gabimaru to join an expedition to an island south of Japan in search of the elixir of life in exchange for a full pardon by the Shogunate. However, this island isn't a normal island. The exploring team—consisting of those marked for death—might not be fully prepared to handle them.
Gabimaru the Hollow, un ninja du village d'Iwagakure connu pour être froid et sans émotion, a été piégé par son camarade ninja et se trouve maintenant dans le couloir de la mort. I can see this as the anime of the Spring season. The story telling is deep and rich. The animation, art direction and music is strong. The characters are believable and rich in personality. Some might find this gore fest distasteful but it's has ninja and supernatural well balanced in a storyline that pulls you in.

Good lighting and shading, especially the transition with the lighting of the fire. Super ninja relays the story of his life that led him to this point. The main character is very resistant to standard methods of execution. The first ten minutes feels almost like an exercise in torture porn to establish how tough he is. The story of his wife is interesting; a loving, innocent women that he rejected, feeling she was making him soft. The rumor is that the shinobi of his village/clan consume an elixir of immortality. Wishing for death, our MC finds he prefers to live when faced with a person with the skill to cut him down permanently. His executioner can see through him, and his attachment to his wife, no matter how strongly he rejects it. The show cleverly hides how his wife's face was scarred until later in the episode, and that she loved him for not rejecting her merely for her looks. He's being pardoned to go on a mission that requires his skill. Not sure if the music fits the climax that well.

Good job of focusing the story on desire and the elemental issues of death and life; now I want to see where it goes.
