Akane-banashi
Akane unintentionally stirs up a scandal when she’s discovered taking informal lessons from her father’s former teacher, Shiguma Arakawa. And she’s about to make even bigger waves because she is about to begin her first steps in climbing the ranks of a rakugo performer from zenza opening act to shin’uchi headliner is exchanging her secret lessons for formal training. But she’ll still have to finish high school and navigate her relationship with Shiguma’s existing apprentices, all while learning that becoming a stellar rakugoka takes much more than just being good at performing!
Akane déclenche involontairement un scandale lorsqu'on la surprend à prendre des cours informels auprès de Shiguma Arakawa, l'ancien professeur de son père. Et elle est sur le point de faire encore plus de vagues car, pour gravir les échelons d'une artiste de rakugo, passant de simple première partie de zenza à vedette de shin'uchi, elle troque ses cours secrets contre une formation formelle. Mais elle devra d'abord terminer ses études secondaires et gérer ses relations avec les apprentis de Shiguma, tout en apprenant que devenir une rakugoka d'exception exige bien plus que du talent d'interprétation !

It's an engaging family story, and also a glimpse into a fascinating corner of Japanese culture that I'd never heard of. Akane is a bright little sparkler, and she made me want to see her next episode right away.

Really interesting slice of Japanese culture; a combination of stationary storytelling and one-man play. Characters are nicely drawn and expressive, and the first episode is played very sincere. The episode does very well at making the viewer empathise with the family, and the ending lands like an emotional punch to the gut to set up the rest of the series.

I'm truly impressed by this anime. More than anything the acting of actors was well done. The question who I follow this show is another. Maybe yes, maybe no.
