First off, this has a very distinctive animation style. It reminds me of Samurai Jack in some ways.
The culture is one that is so different to me, that I am unsure how this stacks up against other stories set in the middle east.
I did find this to be an interesting (if slow) slice of life sort of story about the education of a young girl.
All in all, it was a bit slow for me, but I did find it very charming.

This story is quiet and character driven, and the protagonist is cute and sympathetic. The art style seems fairly basic, but otherwise this is apparently a quite realistic historical drama.

Anime set in islamic Mongolia. I love the retro, painterly art style. It seems familiar to shows I've seen in the past, but I can't narrow it down to a specific artist/mangaka. Might take place in the era of Kublai Khan? He was a Mongol very interested in learning and knowledge of other places.

The animation has the Canadain National Film Board feel to it. Totally nothing like the anime shows from Japan to date. Intersting but most of the real story is yet to come.
