Seventeen years ago, Takafumi's uncle fell into a coma, but now he's back like a man risen from his grave. Soon, Takafumi discovers two bizarre things: His uncle treasures video games above all else, and, while comatose, he was actually transported to another world as some heroic guardian! Now, not only does Takafumi have to room with an uncle who is literally magical, he also has to catch the guy up on two decades of history—smartphones, high-speed internet, modern anime tropes...and the traumatic outcome of the '90s console war!

Michael Eh?

I had high hopes for this show given it trashes some of the tropes with Isekai shows and I wasn't disappointed. The only disappointment is it being trapped on streaming service as all anime has found itself. Pretty top notch show except the animation is poor at times. Once, you get into the main story, does your mind's eye gloss over the poor quality animation.

Mr. Sunshine

An entertaining first, a show that takes anime and isekai tropes and finely dismantles them, enjoying the ride down and providing a bucket of tasteful humour as well. The uncle reminds me of days gone by, as much his reality check is a history level. An anime to watch with coffee on a sunday. What will Takafumi witness as he gets to know about his uncle's adventures? Only time will tell...

This is fun. Its basically what happens after you come back from an isekai. It won me over pretty fast early on when you thought the truck might hit him (per isekai rules) but then doesnt. If you want a fresher take on what is now a stale subgenre, this is a good take.

very 8-bit to 1080p intro love the flachback's to old video games. all in all not bad

Seems interesting. Curious if it will have the legs to make a meaningful arc, taking place in modern day Japan.
