Set in a fictional 19th century England, D.Gray-man is the story of Allen Walker, a 15-year-old boy who roams the earth in search of Innocence. Picking up right where they left off 8 years ago, the series characters haven't changed.  Though unless you followed the previous series until they stopped you'll be lost watching the first episode.

never watched the original series. good as this looks, jumping in mid story is bit heavy going for me.

More than half of the episode was spent either explaining or recapping Allen's backstory, which pretty much killed the story and left me more confused than ever, annoyed, and kind of bored.  Maybe the original series was good, but I don't think I want to see more of this one.
