Mais ce n'est pas tout ce qu'il est venu faire au Japon... il cherche aussi son père. Même l'ambitieux Kanata peut-il accomplir tout ce qu'il a prévu de faire ?

Michael Eh?
For me, this was a lack luster opening episode. Maybe I was expecting more given the franchise that the manga inspired. The dialogue cutting out had me thinking something was wrong but it was done intentionally. The female lead wasn't hearing anything because she was gob smacked by this femboy's charm. I think the problem that the eyes are they same, no matter what the character is. In the end, it was distracting for me, though it was the mangaka who drew this and the animation studio followed suit. For mystery, if he was trying to find his father he didn't come out and really ask any of the people he came in contact with.

I like good racing scenes, and I'd like to follow the guy's search for his father.

Episode is a bit slow; it's mostly establishing characters and relationships. The two female students are a bit hard to tell apart aside from their hair color. Overall level of animation, detail, and shading is good, and while the cg for the races stands out, it's integrated well. Facial expressions can be hit or miss, mainly due to what direction the eyes are meant to be looking. Writing in the first episode is nice and meaningful; really establishing the character of each person.

The first thing I noticed was the animation style. All the faces are stretched in a way that gives me a very uncanny valley feel. Its not a dealbreaker, but I did find it very distracting. Aside from any issues with the visuals, the show did seem to flow okay. I never really got into Initial D or any other racing anime, but this one seems alright. The character development was handled fairly well, giving a reasonably slow pace and introducing some character backstory gradually. It wasnt anything that blew me away, but I could give it a another episode or two to see how it goes.
