Tonari no Youkai-san
A rural town where youkai, people and gods live normal, everyday lives, mixed with a bit of warmth and occasional mystery. One summer, the twenty-year old cat Buchio suddenly evolves into a nekomata. Questioning the reason for his evolution, he sets out to learn more about transformation, together with the transforming kitsune Yuri. Muu-chan spies on the crow Tengu Jirou as he performs his Tengu duties, and begins to see Jirou in a new light. At that same time, rumors of an unfortunate Nue begin to spread…
Une ville rurale où les yôkai, les gens et les dieux vivent une vie quotidienne normale, mêlée d'un peu de chaleur et de mystère occasionnel. A fantastic fantasy of slice of life. Animation is top notch, the music fitting and doesn't over power the drama. Characters that are refreshing change of pace in an hectic anime season. A good show to sit and unwind.

This was a fun little slice of life type of show, with some supernatural elements. The pace is very slow, but it did help to give some sense of community to the village. The show is fairly well animated, with some interesting ideas to it (like giants, ghosts, nekomata, etc). All in all, it is an interesting start. It's not to my usual taste, but I might give this one the 3 episode treatment and see how things go.

Hmm -- modern village slice-of-life with youkai. Not a really compelling pilot, but I do like the setting much better than high school.
