Naofumi Iwatani, an uncharismatic Otaku who spends his days on games and manga, suddenly finds himself summoned to a parallel universe! He discovers he is one of four heroes equipped with legendary weapons and tasked with saving the world from its prophesied destruction. As the Shield Hero, the weakest of the heroes, all is not as it seems. Naofumi is soon alone, penniless, and betrayed. With no one to turn to, and nowhere to run, he is left with only his shield. Now, Naofumi must rise to become the legendary Shield Hero and save the world!
Naofumi Iwatani, un Otaku peu charismatique qui passe ses journées à jouer à des jeux et des mangas, se retrouve soudainement appelé dans un univers parallèle! Il découvre qu'il est l'un des quatre héros dotés d'armes légendaires et chargé de sauver le monde de sa destruction prophétisée. En tant que héros du bouclier, le plus faible des héros, tout n’est pas ce qu’il semble. Naofumi est bientôt seul, sans le sou et trahi. N'ayant personne vers qui se tourner et nulle part où aller, il ne lui reste que son bouclier. Maintenant, Naofumi doit devenir le légendaire héros du bouclier et sauver le monde!

At first, i figured just another isekai. This time around, they have at least broken some of the mould. Yes, its an MMORPG type of world. Yes, we have a hero destined to save everyone. But this time, our hero does not start off all powerful and universally loved. This gives for a grittier tone than most of the isekai anime, which are usually fairly light in tone. All in all,I would be willing to watch more of this, it is at least a bit more interesting. (Also, points for having no ecchi yet).
