Japan is a seismically active country, so the occasional trembler isn't anything that people get too worked up about. They happen and it's unfortunate, but in general Japan is prepared. But there is one scientist who believes that he has found proof that a recent quake has triggered a cataclysmic event, and that within a year Japan will sink into the sea. The idea that Japan would simple sink back into the sea is too far fetch. Ushio to Tora TV was more plausible. Sinking a land mass the size of Japan would mean the rest of the planet would be ripped apart in the process. Tsunami alone would devastate the entire western seaboard of North America. The series has ANGST lots of angst which is it's only plot device. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 is similar and more realistic disaster anime series.
