During the back-end of the 19th century, the genius but socially awkward engineer Sorano Appare and the wise yet cowardly samurai Isshiki Kosame find themselves drifting in the sea between Japan and America. With no money, the duo decide to enter the Trans-America Wild Race to win the prize money so they can get home. The two encounter rivals, bandits, and challenges in the wilderness as they race through America, from the starting line in Los Angeles to the finish line in New York, in the steam-powered car they built.
Au cours de la fin du XIXe siècle, l'ingénieur génial mais maladroit socialement Sorano Appare et le samouraï sage mais lâche Isshiki Kosame se retrouvent à la dérive dans la mer entre le Japon et l'Amérique. Sans argent, le duo décide de participer à la Trans-America Wild Race pour gagner le prix afin qu'ils puissent rentrer chez eux. Les deux rencontrent des rivaux, des bandits et des défis dans le désert alors qu'ils traversent l'Amérique, de la ligne de départ à Los Angeles à la ligne d'arrivée à New York, dans la voiture à vapeur qu'ils ont construite.
